KK - I did it
Well - I think I just set a personal record in theming.
My girlfriend (hey... we're not in a relationship, though we drive each other mental!) wanted a site done for her own business, Kali Kreations. She does web design and a whole swag of other things in her spare time.
The case study goes like this...
Celeste has had a static website for about 3-4 years (I'm not sure of the exact amount of time). For the most part it's served her well, but hasn't exactly been easy to update and drop new content in 12 months after the site was launched. Things like image files are archived and you have to dig up which disks to load, and when you're in the process of moving house (once or twice), those things can get progressively harder to track down. It saps the fun out of it.
So I show her Drupal.
Cel sends me a couple of image files to see what I can come up with. As it is a very basic template, and she leaves to go out by the time she's had dinner with friends and has ridden the bus back home, her "Coming soon" text was replaced with some real content and a nice little edit button. The whole lot was done between 4:30pm (when I first received the images) and midnight by the time she put the finishing touches on the bulk of her content.
Because there were no modules that needed testing, and the site was extremely simple in layout and design element, the total time would have measured to about 1 working day with the second half of it spent over MSN discussing how to edit it, what the revision system was and how to revert, and last minute tweaks she wanted done to the placement of a few items (which was really the bulk of the discussion times).
On the TODO list:
- Show her how I created the menu across the top. That one I've held off doing myself because she wants to see how I'd do it.
- Centre the menu across the top and evenly space menu elements.
